Yours if you want it
I don't exactly love this music, but I've always liked these lyrics. And the video features Kristy Swanson, a longtime favorite. I don't know how many times I've seen Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but probably too many to say without shame in my voice.
I, of course, identify with the sentiment of the song. Who doesn't fantasize about going from flipping burgers to singing in a parking lot? Oh, not that part of the song. The lyrics. Although I do enjoy a good hamburger.
There's hope in this song, hope that all we need is one more chance. If you've had your bell rung too many times in bad relationships, it's sometimes hard to muster hope. But, the alternative just seems way too close to laying down and dying.
What has begun to dominate my internal lexicon is the word "after." I'm living in the after of so many things. I embody after, though I strain toward a new beginning. Any new beginning is tainted with after, though. How you deal with the afters of life is measured in resilience.
Offering your beat-up heart to someone seems like such a shyster move. It's pathetic, pitiful, and plain old paltry. What makes you think anyone would be interested in such a mangled offering? I know God will take anything I offer Him, so there's that. Maybe He could send a woman my way with the same notion.
We all endure pain. There is nothing as sure as that. God never promises we will live a life without pain, but that He will provide a way out of it. So, as beat up as my heart is, I know God can heal it. There will be moments when I'm hyperventilating with pain again, but it's good to know I serve a God who is bigger than any amount of pain.
Hope is a gift. If you've lived any length of time without it, you realize how much you need it. It's necessary for any recipe that involves today or tomorrow. Every morning drips with it, and every evening it tucks you in to bed. As hard as it is sometimes, I embrace the hope of a better today and tomorrow. I may not have what it takes to get where I want to be, but I know for sure if I don't try, I'll never get there.
There's one more sip in this bottle of wine
A lonely star hangin' in the sky with a wish left on it
And it's yours if you want it
And this wildflower from the neighbor's yard
A real slow dance in the moonlight dark
This hand in my pocket
Oh baby, just call it
'Cause it's yours if you want it
A lonely star hangin' in the sky with a wish left on it
And it's yours if you want it
And this wildflower from the neighbor's yard
A real slow dance in the moonlight dark
This hand in my pocket
Oh baby, just call it
'Cause it's yours if you want it
And every bit of love left in this beat up, banged up, scarred up heart
That's been waitin' on a girl like you
I know it ain't much, but it comes alive with every touch
Every kiss already feels like you own it
Baby, it's yours if you want it
That's been waitin' on a girl like you
I know it ain't much, but it comes alive with every touch
Every kiss already feels like you own it
Baby, it's yours if you want it
Half of this rickety front porch swing
Every word of every song I sing
My jacket when it's cold
Oh baby, don't you know
You've got a place to lay your head
On the other side of my empty bed
And it's just made for fallin'
And it's yours if you want it
It's yours if you want it
Every word of every song I sing
My jacket when it's cold
Oh baby, don't you know
You've got a place to lay your head
On the other side of my empty bed
And it's just made for fallin'
And it's yours if you want it
It's yours if you want it
And every bit of love left in this beat up, banged up, scarred up heart
That's been waitin' on a girl like you
I know it ain't much, but it comes alive with every touch
Every kiss already feels like you own it
Baby, it's yours if you want it
That's been waitin' on a girl like you
I know it ain't much, but it comes alive with every touch
Every kiss already feels like you own it
Baby, it's yours if you want it
It's yours if you want it
Every dollar, every dime, every drop of rain
Every single thing I could beg, steal, or borrow
Every yesterday and tomorrow
Well, every grain of sand on the beach
Every blade of grass under our feet
Baby, your name is written on it
Every single thing I could beg, steal, or borrow
Every yesterday and tomorrow
Well, every grain of sand on the beach
Every blade of grass under our feet
Baby, your name is written on it
And it's yours if you want it
And every bit of love left in this beat up, banged up, scarred up heart
That's been waitin' on a girl like you
And I know it ain't much, but it comes alive with every touch
Every kiss already feels like you own it
That's been waitin' on a girl like you
And I know it ain't much, but it comes alive with every touch
Every kiss already feels like you own it
Baby, it's yours if you want it
Every dollar, every dime, every drop of rain, every single thing
That I could beg, steal, or borrow
Baby, your name is written on it
Baby, it's yours if you want it
That I could beg, steal, or borrow
Baby, your name is written on it
Baby, it's yours if you want it
