Hungry Like the Wolf (Duran Duran)
Let's go back to 1982 when I was 5 years old. Hungry Like the Wolf by Duran Duran. This video is wild. Music videos were kind of a catastrophe back then, especially when they were trying to tell a story in less than 3 and a half minutes. But, this video got me thinking about something. Care to come along? Oh, you're hungry. Grab a bite to eat and then we'll start.
First of all, when he says he smells like he sounds, what does that mean? Does he sound good? Does that mean he smells good? If he's a wolf, he may not smell good. Mouth is alive, with juices like wine? What? The lyrics are a dumpster fire. On the surface this song is about a man pursuing a woman for sex. But the lyrics don't really support that. It's like it's written in code we aren't meant to understand.
Since I'm sure everyone knows I'm crazy, I may as well be out with it. I'm reading a book called Monsters Among Us, and some of those monsters are canids, which are like werewolves or dogmen. Believe it or not, these exist. What they are exactly no one can say, though many have theories. The Native Americans say they are shapeshifters, powerful shamans who can morph into the shapes of animals. That's actually substantiated and it's been proven in court at least once that someone was able to do that. Another idea is they are Nephilim-type creatures. Or that they always exist around us but we can’t see them all the time. They are spiritual or part spiritual, inhabiting both worlds. So they are possibly demons. Why the door was open to the viewer is an individual thing. Many things can open the door to the enemy or allow one to see into the spiritual world. In biblical terms, the protective hedge has been broken.
Perhaps you'd like to also know my theory about the dinosaurs, too, that they were part of the genetic experiments that went awry before the flood. They could have even been part demon and part creature. The reason Sodom and Gomorrah was overthrown was because they knew about mixing spiritual and flesh to create something new. That's why when the angels came to visit they wanted to "know them," meaning have sexual relations. And that is why God destroyed them. Anyway, is Duran Duran talking about a wolfman? Look more deeply into the band and let me know your thoughts.
I like to speculate. But I'm not going out on a big limb here. What are they actually saying in this song? It's not always easy to see, especially given the crappy video. Why did he throw his table down? Why was he rushing through a crowd in India all sweaty and gross? Oh, right, he's hungry. I guess he should have stayed at the restaurant. They all look so serious. This is a theme of 80s songs. They took themselves so seriously. Then he fights his lady in the woods and they presumably consummate. Apparently sex in the 80s was like that. Oh, what a disaster. I'm sorry I looked further into this song. It's disturbing. Haha. Probably not as much of a disaster as this post, as well as this blog.
With this blog, all I did was detail what happened. The best thing that happened was unexpected, and that was a renewal of my walk with Christ. I guess you could say the disasters I went through the last few years were worth it. I pursued spiritual more than flesh, talked to God more than anyone else, prayed like it was my last day on earth, and fasted often. My zeal consumed me.

On a different note, God brought things to my attention I need to spend more time praying about and listening to His leading. These things are bigger than I imagined and I now feel a great pressing on my spirit to pray and fast and ask for more power. Big things are afoot. I don’t know what else to say, but if God is pressing you to pray, it means something can be done while there is still time. I knew when God dealt with me about things it was because something big was coming. God doesn’t waste anything. He got my attention. Pray I am faithful, if you are the praying type.
Thank you for reading. And God bless.
