Scene from a movie

I woke at 1 am one morning and wrote this. I love how effortless writing about that girl is. If everything in life was as easy, life would be a completely different experience.

Can I kiss you? He thought he should ask, but he never did. As it turned out, he didn’t need to. He simply cupped her face and kissed her. It wasn’t a great kiss, but neither of them cared. She closed her eyes, and when he pulled away, it was like electricity went through them both. She lit up, her eyes wide and wondering. He said I see my future in your eyes. I want to share my life with you. But I don’t know how to do this. Please just take my hand and let’s do it together. We’ll figure it out. We’ll make a way, starting right now, if you want. You can think about it. (She didn’t seem to need to hear that.) Let’s move forward. It won’t always be easy, but nothing good or worth doing is ever without trouble. We aren’t perfect people, but we are perfect for one another.

It was clear they loved one another. It was clear the answer was yes. She looked down and smiled bashfully. Yes, of course, she said. Yes now and yes forever. I see my future in your eyes, too.

He didn’t know what to say. He practiced his lines so long he didn’t realize her unrehearsed lines would take his breath away. They both sat on the loveseat holding hands and softly crying tears of relief and joy. He couldn’t stop smiling. She couldn’t stop wanting to kiss him more. They were both a little stunned but happier than they could ever recall being before. He kissed her hand awkwardly and then her forehead and then realized her lips were begging for his on hers again so leaned in … and abruptly began laughing and thanking her. They laughed together until their smiles turned to kisses once more.

He looked at her like she was the most beautiful girl he’d ever seen. And she was. He wanted nothing more than to spend the rest of his life doing what he was doing now: holding her hand and simply being together
. Suddenly he felt embarrassed and wanted to apologize for making a scene. He also felt like he wanted to take her home and hold her close and smother her with affection. Finally, he thought better of both and simply enjoyed one of those perfect moments life gives us. She was his. She was finally his. He couldn’t help thanking God over and over in his overwhelmed brain. She looked at him again and all his thoughts ran away.

This is it. This is what he was waiting for. She looked so perfect sitting next to him and neither wanted to break the spell or move from that moment, so they said nothing as they watched a television neither regarded. They had big thoughts in their heads from which nothing could pull their attention away. It was the beginning of an adventure and the end of wondering.

During a recent prayer and fasting session, I felt convicted about a behavior I often exhibit, which is I don’t like being interrupted. I felt God said this will hinder me serving Him and helping others. We can’t choose God’s timing. We have to be willing to listen and heed the call at any time. A few days later I felt convicted about some things I posted in my last post, as well. I was just being stupid, but it was a bit crass. I tried to correct it but gave up. Just when you think you’re doing alright, God reminds you how much work you have to do.

Made appointments for eye and dental care. And the second dental for my son. Putting down some roots. Getting excited about living on my own again. Even got some things in preparation.

Some promising things are growing in my heart and mind that I never foresaw. It’s wonderful and unexpected. When you follow the Lord, He blesses you. Perhaps more on this later.

Thank you for reading. And God bless.
