50 Ways to Say Goodbye (Train)
I just thought it is a fun song. It was released in 2012, so not throwing something shiny new out there. Anyway, I am on TikTok a lot (it's kind of a problem). There are some compelling accounts. One I follow is called hoe_math, which explains how modern, feminist women think and conduct themselves. This song, combined with one of those posts, got me thinking. When a woman dumps a man, is she required to tell him why? I think that's fair, especially if they spent a lot of time together. A relationship is an agreement. (Marriage is a legal agreement.) Any agreement, stated or not, requires an explanation for termination. Why are man/woman relationships any different?
I understand why women often don't tell a man the reasons for terminating their relationship. Some men get upset. Been there, and said things that, upon reflection, sucked. Would I do that in the future? No. The last few friendships with women were terminated in a gentle way and with a soft answer as to why, but I was the one leaving. What if a woman left me? Again, no. I'm at a very mature place, am doing well, a result of developing peace. Additionally, I respect a woman who is honest and direct. Those are traits I admire and value above any hurt feelings I may incur.
If a woman was to end a relationship with me now, I would calmly accept. My life prepared me for endless amounts of rejection and a certain amount of abuse. Plus, I firmly believe a woman should leave a relationship as soon as she realizes he's not the one for her (or vice versa) or she doesn't have feelings for or a desire for him. Termination in a timely manner is absolutely necessary to avoid even greater suffering and loss of time, which is something that, at my age, feels like the greatest loss. I understand exiting a relationship can be tricky, but honesty is the best policy. It is the kindest approach and has lasting benefits. Yes, it sucks momentarily, but nothing is that big of a deal to me anymore. Disappointment is a part of life. Every time I look in the refrigerator, I'm disappointed, so just add it to the list. Really, those hairy carrots aren't going to eat themselves, buddy.
Admittedly, this post doesn't pertain to my life right now. (The girl I love wants to keep trying, and my desire is well known. I believe she would tell me if her desires changed.) All I can do is look back, and I really wish women were more honest in the past. If you're done, just leave. Tell me why and go. It's fine. I'm not going to hurt you. I'm going to suffer and then be okay, just as always. Dragging things out (my fault at times) only prolongs suffering because one suffers both in the relationship and in its ending. After a relationship ends, healing begins. That's when you gain your strength back. I never saw a man ruined by a relationship ending unless he allowed it and wallowed in self-pity. Most men are pragmatic (me included) and realize it is for the best. Sooner is always better for ending something not working. A side note: most people won't work things out these days, especially if feelings aren't there. I mean, if there are no feelings, there's no reason to work on it. Because you have nothing anyway. It's amazing what man/woman relationships look like these days. I think our ancestors would be quite ashamed by what we accept or consider normal. Did you know more than 50% of single men have no desire to date? Think about that. "Men with no hoes. Where are you? What are you doing?"
Getting back to the video, my favorite part of it is, of course, David Hasselhoff, who is very popular in singer in German-speaking parts of the world (with 15 studio albums). According to Wikipedia, he also set a Guinness world record for being the most-watched man on television! His career started on a soap opera, and he became wildly famous for his role on Baywatch, which I recall watching in high school. I thought it was dumb at first and didn't watch. Someone suggested watching, and then I understood why people watched. If you don't know, it's the beaches. Beautiful beaches. My original memories of Hasselhoff, though, are from Knight Rider, which featured a talking car named KITT. I thought it was also stupid, but my brother Jon liked it. Anyway, Hasselhoff shows up in Train's video, which gives it a comical vibe. I'm pretty sure that's his role in everything now. We all end up being a caricature of ourselves, if we live long enough. Just ask my son what he thinks of me and my "52-gallon head" (his words).
Feel free to get the creeps with this bit of information: the girl who plays the girlfriend in the video repeatedly shows up online as deceased. She's a victim of death hoaxes, which plague some celebrities. That's a bit ironic considering her death is depicted in a variety of ways throughout the video. She's still alive. Poor thing.
This video couldn't be made today. It feels like a lot changed in 10 years. It would appear insensitive now, but some people will always miss the point. Heck, some don't even know that the way traffic is controlled, they won't get where they are going much faster if they change lanes and jockey ahead of everyone. You may get there 30 seconds earlier, but is that worth driving like an idiot for 10 minutes? Apparently it is. This post was stupid, but hopefully someone out there learned something about David Hasselhoff, at least. It's great how the singer's girlfriend shows up at the end, but I enjoyed the mariachi band the best. The thought occurred to end the blog with this song, but it already endured 50 deaths. In that way, the song is fitting ...

Please pray for my friend Cindy, as she is experiencing severe attacks through her workplace. I can't imagine anyone treating her poorly instead of feeling blessed by her presence, insight, and skill. These attacks are from the enemy. Pray the Lord uses it for His purposes in her life and the those around her. And pray for her protection, for strength, and a sweet attitude through it. And for whatever God's solution is to this situation. And anything else you'd like to pray. Thank you.
Thank you for reading. And God bless.
